Specifications For the Three Engine Options Inside the 2021 Mazda3 Sedan
As news has been stirring about the impending arrival of the 2021 Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback options, more details surface every few days. Earlier last weekend, this was true for the model’s engine drivetrains. While the 2021 Mazda3 Sedan will carry over the original Skyactiv®-G 2.5L engine, it will offer two new options: the Skyactiv-G® 2.0L and a 2.5L Turbocharged choice. At Marketplace Mazda, we investigate the specifications of each model to give you a better idea of what’s to come.
Skyactiv-G® 2.0L and 2.5L Turbocharged Engines Added to 2021 Mazda3 Sedan
|Engine Option||HP||Torque (in ft-lbs)||All-Wheel Drive Option|
Looking at the specifications above, a total of three engine options will be available for the 2021 Mazda3 Sedan. The newest engine announced is the 2.0L option. Brought back from past models, the base engine will output up to 155 horsepower. Unlike other trims, it is only available with front-wheel drive, but could make the model even more affordable and allow you to tailor your driving experience even better than 2020. Also returning is the lone 2020 option in the Skyactiv®-G 2.5L, which put up a strong 186 horsepower and torque levels respectively.
New Skyactiv®-G 2.5T Turbocharged Engine
The second new engine addition comes in the exciting 2.5L turbocharged engine. Found in both the 2020 Mazda CX-5 and CX-9, the engine outputs 227 horsepower and 310 ft-lbs of torque. Though it hasn’t been revealed yet, the engine can produce up to 250 horsepower and 320 ft-lbs of torque when using premium unleaded fuel in other models. This option will also come with standard all-wheel drive and will be available in the 2021 Mazda3 Hatchback.
