2018 Mazda6 Sport Engine vs Grand Touring Turbocharged Engine

The 2018 Mazda 6 full-size sedan comes with 5 available trim level options. Within these 5 trim levels, there are 2 engine options. The first engine option obviously starts with the baseline trim level of the 2018 Mazda6 Sport. Meanwhile, the 2nd engine option is first introduced with the 2018 Mazda6 Grand Touring trim level and remains in the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature trim levels.

Therefore, today we’re going to take a look at both of these engine options for the 2018 Mazda6. That way, you’ll know which trim levels you should consider when shopping for your very own 2018 Mazda6 sedan!

Sport and Touring Engine

First up, we have the 2.5L Inline 4 engine found in the 2018 Mazda6 Sport and 2018 Mazda6 Touring. This engine produces 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the combined fuel economy of these trim levels with this engine is 29 MPG.

Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature Engine

The engine, found in the 2018 Mazda6 Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature trims, is also a 2.5L inline 4 engine. However, this SKYATIV®-G engine is turbocharged. This allows the 2.5L inline 4 engine to significantly up its power output without a serious downgrade in fuel economy.

This engine option has 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. From this, we get a combined fuel economy of 26 MPG for these 2018 Mazda6 trim levels.
